Issued through the Shanghai branch of this Japanese overseas bank operating in China, this type is fascinating and rare. Interestingly, the Ningpo Commercial Bank authorized Giesecke & Devrient in Berlin to print their banknotes. We have only offered this example once previously, and all extant examples are prized today, as they are quite rare. Beautiful and uniquely German design elements are seen on both sides of this scarce type.
