Norodom I silver Essai Test Coin 5 Francs 1875 UNC Details (Reverse Tooled) NGC, Brussels mint, KM-XT2, Maz-498, Gad-10, Lec-95. By C. Wurden. Struck by the Menning Brothers as a sample for their minting press's capabilities in an effort to sell minting equipment to Cambodia. A reasonably rare test or pattern type, particularly in this metal, with the present piece being the first as such that we have offered and one of only a very tiny handful certified by NGC. In spite of the noted tooling to the right of St. Michael on the reverse, the coin on the whole appears very handsomely preserved--a smoky gunmetal hue present across the surfaces as a russet-gold patina highlights the devices in the most eye-catching fashion.
