Qing Dynasty. Shanghai Erqibao ("City 27 Ingot") Sycee of 50 Taels ND (19th Century) UNC, Cribb-Class VIII.A. 125x69mm. 1828gm. The top, curved stamp reads: "Tong Sheng" (bank name), the right stamp reads: "Qi" (7, the furnace number), and the left stamp reads: "Gong Hou Fu" (the silversmith's name). A highly attractive ingot, the stamps even and expressing a level of detail and clarity usually lacking from this type, while just the slightest degree of rub is observable across the surfaces. Displaying a deep battleship-gray patina, and lacking the added Shanghai Foreign Settlement Assay Office ink script sometimes seen on Shanghai erqibao.
