TVRPILIANVS III•VIR / FE-RON Diademed and draped bust of Feronia to right, wearing pearl-necklace. Rev. CAESAR A[VGVSTVS•SI]GN RECE Parthian kneeling to right, presenting signum with vexillum decorated with X. BMC 14. Cohen 484. RIC 288. Very darkly toned and unusually well centered. Somewhat rough, otherwise, good very fine.


This type commemorates Augustus' diplomatic success in securing the restoration of the legionary eagles which had been lost by Crassus and Antony in the disastrous campaigns against the Parthians in 53 and 36 BC.
