CRUSADERS. Antioch. Tancred, regent, 1101-1112. Follis (Bronze, 24 mm, 3.81 g, 7 h). [ΚΕ] ΒΟ TA[NKPI] Cuirassed bust of Tancred facing, wearing turban with cross and holding sword in his right hand. Rev. Cross pommée, fleuronée at base; in angles, IC - XC / NI-KA. CCS 4a. Metcalf, Crusades, 65. Porteous 17. Wäckerlin 85ff. Traces of overstriking, minor edge crack and with a light scratch on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.


This coin was overstruck on another follis of Tancred (see above, lot 1754), with considerable parts of the undertype still visible.
