Lithuania commemorative Medal (1968) from The Toronto Lithuanian Philatelic-Numismatic Society. The medal is supposed to represent the 50th Anniversary of Lithuanias' Independence. This is a fantasy coin since Lithuania never experienced its' 50th anniversary. The Lithuanian Independence only lasted 22 years from between the two world wars (1918-1940) until The Soviet Union annexed them after world war two started. This coin is tarnished and has a lot of toning to it (see pictures). The letters 'A' on the front in the word 'Lithuania' appears to have some doubling to them. The angel on the front is standing and holding a flag pole in its right hand. The left wrist of the angel has a shackle with a broken chain attached to it. The angel appears to be standing on the sun with rays shining upwards. The reverse has a maple leaf to represent Toronto. Canada on top and a symbol at the bottom to represent the Gediminas Tower from Vilnius. Lithuania. The designers name may be shown as 'WELLINGS'. The edge is lettered with a serial number of '193' at the top. The edge is smooth. The coin measures 40.5 mm in diameter and 2.9 mm thick. This coin weighs 30.16 gram. Silver. RARE
