Kingdom of Macedon, temp. Philip III - Lysimachos AR Drachm. In the name and types of Alexander III. Uncertain mint in Western Asia Minor, circa 323-280 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left, holding sceptre; in left field, forepart of lion to left above monogram; AΛEXANΔΡOY to right; below throne, head of griffin to right. Cf. Price 1580 (no griffin's head) and 1581 (monogram over lion, head wearing Phrygian cap below throne; Abydos mint?); cf. Thompson 64 (monogram over lion, Abydos); CNG e297, 25 (same dies). 4.28g, 18mm, 12h.

Very Fine. Very Rare; an unpublished variant, seemingly only the second example on CoinArchives.
