This is a highly unusual coin, not least because it does not appear to conform to any recognised weight standard. Under the 'light Samian' standard (cf. Weidauer No. 204-206), this issue would theoretically be a 1/8 stater, a very unconventional divisional fraction. The designs offer no additional clue as to the coin's origin, with the obverse either being deliberately amorphous or struck from an exhausted die. The Stack's cataloguer fancied he could discern a gorgoneion; a more simplistic design is more likely.
