L. Lazzarini, A Contribution to the Study of the Archaic Billion Coinage of Lesbos, Obolos 9 (2010) 83-111, dates these issues - which he categorises as series IV - after 478 BC, the year the island was liberated from Persian rule and associates the legend ΛES with the Lesbian koinòn.
