KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.43 g, 12 h), Temnos, circa 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, above Zeus's lap, EΔ; to left, vine-tendril with grapes around an oenochoe. Price 1671. Some areas flatly struck, otherwise, good very fine.
