KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 16.5 mm, 8.56 g, 7 h), Sardes, circa 334-323. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with coiled serpent, single-pendant earring, and necklace. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand and cradling stylis in left arm; in field to left, bucranium. Price 2539. Obverse struck slightly off-center, otherwise, good very fine.
