THESSALY, Thessalian League. 2nd-1st centuries BC. Stater (Silver, 22 mm, 6.10 g, 1 h), struck under the magistrates Gorgias, Ni..., and Themistogenes. Head of Zeus to right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. ΘΕΣΣΑ / ΛΩΝ Athena Itonia striding to right, hurling spear with her right hand and extending shield in her left; above spear, ΓΟΡ-ΓΙΑΣ; below shield, ΝΙ; across inner field, Θ-ΕΜI. BCD Thessaly II 881.3 (same dies); HGC 4, 210. Nicely centered and lightly toned. Very fine.
