LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.77 g, 2 h), struck under the magistrates Dae..and Mach... Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of barley ears and triple-pendant earring; below chin, [ΔΑΙ]. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leaf to right; to right, on leaf, plow; below leaf, Μ[ΑΧ]. HN III 1581. Johnston Class C, 1.60 (same dies). Attractive, clear and toned. Some corrosion, primarily on the obverse. Good very fine.
