The English philosopher Sir Thomas More and Cardinal John Fisher were both executed by Henry VIII in 1535 for upholding the doctrine of papal supremacy. They were beatified in 1886 under Leo XIII and canonized in 1935 under Pius XI. They share a feast day of 22 June.
