MACEDON, Stagira. Circa 500-480 BC. AR Tetradrachm (29mm, 17.22 g). Lion right, on the back of a boar standing left, biting into its hind quarter; STA-ΛI flanking pellet above, pellet below; all within dotted border / Quadripartite incuse square. Cahn, Skione 10 var. = Cahn, Tetradrachmon 1 var. = Käpelli F12 var. (no pellet below); otherwise, unpublished with ethnic. Deep iridescent tone, test cut, minor marks. Good VF. Extremely rare, apparently the second known with the ethnic of Stagira.
