Jetton. 1761. GOLD. On the Death of Empress Elizabeth.
Bit Ж837 (R2), Diakov 107.6 (R3), Rudenko 1761.1 (R4). Crowned canopy with Elizabeth's sarcophagus, Imperial cipher crowned above / Seven-line legend, crown above. Ex-mount, filed and scraped in peripheries with solder marks, edge damaged. Once set at the bottom of a Catherine the Great silver cup, hallmarked and dated 1775. The Jetton was foolishly and badly cut away from the cup and set in a modern bezel. Accompanied by the ruined cup and its fragments. At point of wear:
