SASANIAN EMPIRE. Ca. 3rd-4th Century AD. Stamp Seal Ring Stone (2.41 gm; 16mm x 12mm x 6mm). Dark-red colored stone. Pahlavi legend "ar(a)shvar" Depicting a hunting scene similar to Sasanian King Varahran, riding a horse in a hunting scene, shooting a bow. The phrase is: ar(a)shvar (Arashvar meaning: Worthy of Arash). More than likely the reference is coordinated with the image showing a man riding a horse and using the bow and arrow; a reminder of the story of "Arash-e Kamangir" in Shahnameh. Excellent condition. Rare.
