ISLAMIC, Qajar Dynast, Ca. 19th. Century. Agate Seal (1.28 gm; 16mm x 15mm). Wonderful style of calligraphy. 1st line: Be Saf-e Bakhshoudegi Ahl-e Kaniseh (or) Katibeh Va-basteh Mohayyer dar. 2nd line: Ank-e Gardesh-e Cheshman-e Hossein Ast: Meaning: The people of Jewish faith asking for forgiveness from Imam Hussein, whom they await in amazement of his grace to see their pardon through nod of his eyes. Note: If the the word is "Kaniseh", that strictly refers to Jewish Temple and people of Jewish faith. If it is "Katibeh" then it refers to "People of the Book" meaning, Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians. Excellent condition.
