FAUSTINA JUNIOR (DAUGHTER OF ANTONINUS PIUS & WIFE OF MARCUS AURELIUS). AV Aureus (7.21 gms), Rome Mint, A.D. 147-175. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 5/5.
RIC-718 (Aurelius); Calico-2076. Obverse: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, draped bust right; Reverse: TEMPOR FELIC, Faustina standing facing, head left, holding infant in each arm; two more children standing to her left and to her right. RARE and quite attractive, this example does exhibit some light handling upon the high points, yet nevertheless remains entirely wholesome and problem-free, with more than a fair share of luster shimmering throughout. The strike is solid and overall well centered.

Part of a number of types displaying Faustina with numerous children, this coin likely features just a portion of her brood, as she is known from her biographies to have had more than six children during her life.

Estimate: $4000.00- $6000.00
