FRANCE. Silver 5 Francs Essai (Pattern), 1818. Charles X. PCGS SPECIMEN-63 Gold Shield.
Maz-794; Gad-618b. Struck to commemorate the visit of Charles X (Charles-Philippe) to the Paris mint. This highly attractive and nicely preserved example, struck in the weight and diameter of 5 Francs, exhibits crisp, well defined and frosty design features with lustrous surfaces displaying subdued brilliance from rich mottled patina. This type shows up from time to time, but usually exhibits more signs of handling then the present piece and as such serious consideration from collectors should be taken into account for the chance to acquire this piece.
Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
