GERMANY. Empire. Silver Hand Engraved Serving Tray Inlaid with European Coins, ND (ca. early 20th Century).
Dimensions: 47.94 cm x 33.97 cm; Weight: 1839.78 gms. An interesting serving tray inlaid with 45 silver crowns, minors and medals from Austria, German New Guinea, Germany, Great Britain, Papal States, Poland, Spain and Switzerland. It appears that the date range of coins used for this piece was from 1592 to 1911. The face of the serving try is engraved with what appears to be an oak tree that must have been engraved post coins being inlaid as some of the design aspects flow right to the edges of coins. Apparent makers initials "R.P." at the base of the engraved tree. Several SCARCE and popular issues were used in the manufacture of this piece of 20th century semi-numismatic artwork. Like many items of this type it has been heavily polished on both sides with dark patina in the crevasses and scattered around the edges.

Estimate: $1000.00- $2000.00
