GREAT BRITAIN. Bank Dollar (5 Shillings), 1804. Birmingham (Soho) Mint. George III. PCGS PROOF-65 Gold Shield.
S-3768; Dav-101; KM-Tn1; ESC-1946. Bank of England issue. An ever-popular issue struck out of necessity upon recycled Spanish colonial 8 Reales, the proof Bank Dollars sometimes feature specially prepared planchets for this very purpose. The present specimen, however, is undoubtedly one of the overstruck types, as, despite the high degree of brilliance and reflectivity observed in the fields, the ordinal number "IIII," referencing Charles IV, can be seen. Pleasingly toned overall, with incredibly great, vibrant colors on the reverse. The finest of this particular type in the PCGS census.
Estimate: $3000.00- $4500.00
