GREAT BRITAIN. Crown, 1893. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-66 Gold Shield.
S-3937; KM-783. LVI on edge. Tied for finest certified of the date with eight other examples on PCGS population reports, none finer and none listed at the graded level on the NGC census; also the main coin on the PCGS site for the type. A highly attractive superb Gem survivor that immediately commands one's attention when viewing with an impressive array of beautiful patina throughout. The needle sharp strike clearly defined the intricate expressive portrait of the Queen and St. George leaving nothing to the imagination coupled with smooth satiny surfaces and cartwheel luster offering much originality. A very desirable example as a type exhibiting outstanding patination displaying a rich dove gray color in the open areas with a blue iridescent sheen; while the areas near the edges and devices display a plethora of hues from warm sunsets to shades of early fall evenings. A small area on the reverse miraculously remains bright and free of tone adding contrast to this amazing looking piece.

From the Trident Collection.

Estimate: $1500.00- $3000.00
