BOLIVIA. 8 Scudos, 1854-PTS M. Potosi Mint. NGC MS-62.
KM-116; Onza-1601 ("rara"). Stunningly sharp through Bolivar's portrait and the corresponding mountain and radiant sun motif, with surrounding surfaces that border on fully prooflike, producing radiant glint that is truly breathtaking. Clean overall, a few small instances of contact on Bolivar's cheek are the extent of what is mentionable. Considering the quality, a coin that is solidly among the finest known, with the only higher graded example being the MS-63 from the Millennia Collection that brought $9,487.50 in 2008.
