KM-246; Fr-48. Mintage: 46,000. One-year type. Extremely handsome for the assigned grade, with surfaces that have been spared from the larger marks that are often seen on this issue. Highly coveted by collectors, this type is in a sense unique amongst Latin American coinage, as excluding ultra-modern issues, this is only type to feature a bird (the Quetzal, after which the denomination is named) in the design.
