Designed by French sculptor Pierre Alexandre Morlon (1878-1951), who became renowned after years of annual participation in Paris salons during the early 20th century. His numismatic contributions (excluding his vast medallic efforts) include numerous issued coins and essais for France and her colonies. Uruguay was the only country with no direct ties to France to adopt circulating coins that bared his design.
From the Oro del Nuevo Mundo Collection.
