ARGENTINA. Silver Real Pattern, 1827. PCGS SPECIMEN-65 Gold Shield.
KM-Pn6; CJ-15.4. Obverse: Radiant sun over arms of Argentina, date below and BANCO NACIONAL around; Reverse: Denomination within wreath. Fully original, this VERY RARE pattern of the early Republic is endowed with shades of delicate gold and pale green tone that traverse the otherwise silver-gray surfaces. Essentially as it was struck, no signs of handling are seen, while the strike is just short of full, with slight softness appearing in the denomination. One of only two examples we have seen offered in recent decades, the other being an EF that we sold in 2009. Considering its rarity, a tough coin to value, however the recent offering a copper example of the same design (Album - 9/2020), but dated 1826 instead of 1827, realized in excess of $4,000, suggesting this piece could very potentially exceed its given estimate range.

From the Matthew Orsini Collection.

Estimate: $1500.00- $3000.00
