Crowned arms of Spain, consisting of Castile and Leon, Catalonia - Aragon, Sicily, Austria, Burgundy, Brabant, Flanders and Tyrol; denomination "VII" right, mintmark and assayers letter "MoJ" left; legend around; Reverse: Bar-tipped cross with fleurs-de-lis in quarters within quadrilobe with floral accents in the corner all within bead border, legend around. A VERY RARE date with few examples known exhibiting a decent strike on a somewhat compact round planchet displaying a nearly complete shield, bold partial date, denomination, mintmark/assayers letter and a bold complete cross. This attractive survivor displays signs of handling consistent for the grade with lovely pale gold color coupled with richer patination in the protected areas. A real treat for the specialist of Mexican gold looking for dates that seldom appear on the market.
