Grove-D-18a; Barac-73. Diameter: 50mm. By J. Guerrero. Obverse: Three interlocking rings (representing the three guarantees of religion, union, and independence); below, two globes displaying the Western and Eastern hemispheres, unchained; Reverse: PRIMA EPOCHA above wreath. Loop attached at the top. Awarded by Augustin I Iturbide to independence fighters who served before March 1821, this handsome, choice medal exhibits a few scattered marks but nevertheless offers great shimmering brilliance and some pleasing toning near the peripheries.
