GREAT BRITAIN. Great Britain - Mexico. Dollar, ND (1797-99). George III. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield; Countermark: UNC Details.
S-3765A; KM-634. Bank of England type I countermark; bust of George III within oval indent on a 1795-Mo FM Mexico bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV). An attractive and original looking example of the type with a boldly applied and well defined countermark exhibiting an oddly shaped bulge on the reverse found on a quite a few pieces from this issue. Lovely light mottled gray tone coupled with richer coloration in the peripheries and crevasses displaying hints of iridescence near the edges gives this survivor a pleasing and wholesome appearance. A fine representative of the type with a good look and lots of character certain to add depth to the next collection it enters.
