S-3766; KM-653. Bank of England countermark (the famous "head of a fool on the neck of an ass"); Bust of George III right utilized from the then current 6 Pence within octagonal indent. On a 1797-PTS PP Bolivia bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV). The countermark is deeply applied with bold details and crisp well defined shaped border. An attractive and wholesome example of the type with signs of handling consistent for the grade displaying rich mottled gray cabinet patina accentuated by a light iridescent highlights amongst the devices.
