GREAT BRITAIN. Great Britain - Mexico. Dollar, ND (1804). George III. PCGS EF-45 Gold Shield; Countermark: VF Details.
S-3766; KM-655. Bank of England countermark (the famous "head of a fool on the neck of an ass"); Bust of George III right utilized from the then current 6 Pence within octagonal indent. On a 1788-MoMF Mexico bust 8 Reales of Charles III. The countermark was somewhat unevenly applied from a worn punch with good definition of the shaped border. A very attractive survivor of the type with rich old cabinet patina displaying an iridescent sheen that pops out when tilted in the light. Clearly an example which sat for a prolonged period of time undisturbed offering good eye appeal and originality.
Estimate: $900.00- $1200.00
