CONSTANS II WITH CONSTANTINE IV, 641-668. AV Solidus (4.39 gms), Constantinople Mint, 6th Officina, 654-659. NGC MS, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 3/5. Scratches, Clipped.
S-960. Obverse: Crowned and draped facing busts of Constans and Constantine; cross above; Reverse: Cross potent set upon three steps; (S/Є)//CONOBI. Despite the noted clipping and a few light scratches, this shimmering example has otherwise avoided any handling or wear, and displays solid portrait detail on the obverse. Of particular interest, the officina mark appears to have been altered from the 5th to the 6th, with the engraving of a terminal sigma over that of the lunate epsilon.
Estimate: $300.00- $500.00
