Obverse: SI VIS PACEM PARA BELLVM (if one desires peace, one must prepare for war), Marianne seated slightly right on mortar, head left, instructing soldier; troops preparing to advance at a distance in background; PRO PATRIA (for the fatherland) in exergue; Reverse: ENTRAINEMENT PHYSIQUE PREPARATION MILITAIRE, plinth surmounted by model airplane, inscribed PRIX du MINISTRE / de la / GUERRE in three lines, and against which are propped numerous military implements; at base, the Lion of Belfort reclining right; FORCE COURAGE in exergue. Edge: [cornucopia hallmark] 2 ARGENT. Lightly toned and alluring, with a great matte nature.
