18 gms; 37mm. Betts-97, Eimer-395, MI-236/18. Struck to commemorate the successful destruction of the French and Spanish fleets at Vigo Bay and the seizure of the treasure contained therein. Dies by J. Croker. The Medal displays slight evidence of circulation but handsome old cabinet toning.
The treasure was returned to London and used to strike the VIGO sixpence, shillings, half crowns and crowns of 1703.
