COSTA RICA. Fantasy Countermark, ND (ca. 1960's). Grade: VERY FINE.
KMX-Unlisted. A genuine Costa Rica "HABILATADA POR EL GOBIERNO" countermark on a Bolivian 1837-PTSI LM 8 Soles. The host has a few scratches on both sides and is toned a dark gray.

Sometime in the 1960's an original countermark from this issue found its way into the numismatic community and was applied to wide variety of host coins including a Lincoln cent among other interesting and nonsensical pieces.
