New Hebrides Banque De L'Indochine 100 Francs ND (1941-45) Pick 9a PMG Choice Fine 15 Net. During World War II, the production and supply of banknotes was drastically altered, as England was suffering aerial bombardment and France was invaded by Nazi Germany. In the South Pacific, the need for additional banknotes grew as Armed Forces arrived. The New Hebrides were thankfully able to acquire a cache of banknotes from nearby New Caledonia. They overprinted the notes with a red oval at front. A mere 11,000 were issued for this type. This is the sole graded example on the PMG census. Rust damage is mentioned on the back of the third party holder. Nevertheless, this is a very rare banknote that infrequently presents itself. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/new-hebrides-banque-de-l-indochine-100-francs-nd-1941-45-pick-9a-pmg-choice-fine-15-net/p/4028-27013.s?type=CoinArchivesCurrency4028 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
