Cuba Banco Espanol De La Isla De Cuba 100 Pesos 15.5.1896 Pick 51 PMG Extremely Fine 40 Net. The three highest denominations of this 1896 series are very rare and seldom seen today. El Banco Espanol de la Isla de Cuba closed its doors at the end of the Spanish American War, rendering these banknotes unredeemable. As such, most have been lost over time. This example is the third highest denomination of the series, and it is seen with its original wide margin at left. Insect holes are seen around the periphery, which is not uncommon for notes from a tropical locale that have been stored for many decades. A rare type which only appears on limited platforms.
