Spain Banco de Espana 500 Pesetas 1.7.1876 Pick 12 PMG Very Fine 20. Spanish emissions from the 1870s are quite rare today, as the vast majority were withdrawn by 1911. This series is significant, as it was issued in 1883 and 1884, only to be withdrawn in 1886. The Bank of Spain needed outside help to prepare banknotes for the country, and the American Bank Note Company was hired to produce this series. 750,000 notes of the 100 Pesetas were printed, along with 150,000 500s and 100,000 1,000 Pesetas. Problem free circulated paper is evident, and all details on both sides are unobstructed. An incredibly desirable banknote, virtually unknown in issued form.
