Spain Banco de Espana 1000 Pesetas 1.1.1884 Pick 28s Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ. Any issued banknote or Specimen from the American Bank Note Company series of 1884 is a real prize, with the 1000 Pesetas as the highest denomination. Before this auction, no examples of this note in issued or Specimen form have been offered publicly. Additionally, this is the only Specimen graded in the PMG Population Report. The American Bank Note Company was tasked with aiding the Bank of Spain in banknote production, ensuring the currency needs of the country were met. According to printer records, 150,000 notes were printed, and an unknown number of Specimen. The series was withdrawn by 1911, and any surviving note is extremely rare. EPQ status is granted to this Specimen, confirming its originality. Hole punched cancellations and red overprints are seen.
