Hadrian Æ Struck "Sestertius". Paduan engraved by Giovanni Cavino (1500-1570). HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, bare head to right / Mars, nude but for helmet, walking to right, holding transverse spear and with trophy over left shoulder; S-C across fields. HMB 1.58; Klawans 3; Lawrence -; for prototype, cf. RIC II 777-782. 28.53g, 35mm, 8h.

Near Extremely Fine. A very rare and beautiful Cavino original strike.

Interestingly, this reverse die was also used by Cavino for sestertii of Vitellius (HMB 1.46) and Geta (HMB 1.80).
