Frederick V Reisedaler (6 Mark) 1749-W MS63 NGC, Copenhagen mint, KM575 (reverse of this coin illustrated on the back cover of the 6th ed.), Dav-1301, Hede-33B, Sieg-15. Mintage: 5,008. A very rare travel type, and one which a quick survey of recent auction records suggests is one of a mere six examples to have come to auction over the last decade. While produced under the auspices of the Danish Asiatic Company to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the House of Oldenburg in Denmark, the fact that the type was minted in 0.833 (Krone) fineness suggests that it was intended to circulate domestically in Denmark rather than abroad. Presently the finest of only two certified by NGC, the features show a fine stippled texture which, when paired with the luster of the surfaces, leaves little room for improvement.
