Frederick V "Coronation" 2 Speciedaler 1747-A MS64 NGC, Copenhagen mint, KM563, Dav-1298, Hede-26, Sieg-17. 57.71gm. Utterly magnificent to say the least, and almost certainly ranking as one of the finest quality survivors of this scarce double speciedaler to come down to us, a quick flick of the wrist unleashing waves of glassy champagne luster over smoky fields free of all but the most unobtrusive of marks. The sole 2 speciedaler type produced in Denmark during the 18th century, likely owing to rampant inflation across the continent, a fact which alone could easily cause numerous surface or edge dings as a result of wider circulation, the issue most often comes with clear rub across the highpoints. Perhaps just slightly weak atop the very peaks of the design, this almost becomes a moot point for this selection whose medallic and Prooflike qualities are legion, and bolstered by a prominent frosting on the canopy scene that graces the obverse. Though exceeded by a single piece at NGC, we would note that the coin on offer here ranks a full two points above the Millennia, Irving Goodman example, and undoubtedly will inspire fierce bidding when it crosses the auction block as such.
