Naples & Sicily. Joachim Murat 5 Lire 1813 MS64 PCGS, Naples mint, KM259, Pag-58, MIR-441/1 (R). A noteworthy Napoleonic crown that is universally regarded as challenging outside of circulated grades, with a survey of the current population reports at both NGC and PCGS revealing that not a single representative presently ranks finer. Outranking the Grundy Collection specimen we offered in 2009 (an MS63), the offering conveys a wistful airy silver patina over the reverse while the obverse concentrates into a rainbow palette the zeroes in the viewer's gaze on Murat's portrait, which contains thick die polish along the hairline.
