Republic gold 4 Escudos 1839 QUITO-MV MS62 NGC, Quito mint, KM19, Fr-4. A very rare type in any better state of preservation, much more so in Mint State condition. Shimmering golden surfaces convey an unquestionable uncirculated condition, with the presence of a soft tangerine tone to either side providing further enrichment to the appealing quality of this scarce specimen. The only example of this type-date that we have ever offered certified AU Details for mount removal by NGC, yet still saw a total auction price realized of nearly $2,000, and we can only anticipate what so well-preserved specimen will bring as it crosses the auction block, poised to dazzle by virtue of its lofty presentation.
