Henry VI (1st Reign, 1422-1461) gold Noble ND (1422-1430) MS62+ NGC, Tower mint, Lis mm, Annulet issue, S-1799, N-1414, cf. Schneider-274-290 (different y in hyB). 6.86gm. h | ЄnRIC' (lis) DI' • GRΛ' • RЄX • ΛnGL' • Z (retrograde) • FRΛnC' • Dn'S • hyB' (trefoil stops), Henry, crowned, standing facing in ship, sword in right hand, shield in left / (lis) Ih'C ★ ΛVT' • TRΛnSIЄnS • PЄR • mЄDIVm • ILLORV' • IBAT (annulet stops), large floriate cross with h at center, crowned lions in angles, all within polylobe with trefoils in spandrels and annulet in spandrel to right of 12 o'clock. A notably expressive piece that appears on the very cusp of choice just by virtue of its definitive strike and even, full flan, nearly the entirety of the outer beaded borders visible along the edges. Besting even most higher graded specimens in terms of its overall striking, and a type which rarely comes so well-preserved.
