Oliver Cromwell gold Pattern Broad of 20 Shillings 1656 AU58 NGC, KM-Pn25, S-3225, W&R-39. Lustrous, sharp, and expressing a bright mint flash that carries with resounding effect across the entirety of the obverse and reverse fields, this engaging Broad demonstrates a degree of eye appeal and preservation that would be the envy of most collectors. Cromwell's bust retains essentially full definition, with the characteristic textured stippling evident across his neck and facial features, only minorly rubbed from circulation. Light wisps in the fields indicate brief use in exchange, though the amount of luster preserved speaks to a condition that is very much on the cusp of Mint State. A segmented fine scratch crosses from the front of Cromwell's bust through the back of his neck, noted purely for accuracy and of minor consequence from an aesthetic standpoint. All stated, a beautiful historical specimen.
