William & Mary gold 2 Guineas 1694/3 MS64 PCGS, KM482.1, S-3424, Schneider-Unl. An absolutely magnificent representative of this 2 Guinea issue of William & Mary, unsurprisingly included in the prestigious Millennia Collection for its stellar visual and technical appeal. Bordered by finely milled rims, the central strike superb and rendering both William and Mary's portraits with meticulous clarity. These remain luxuriously coated in their original mint frost, creating a mild contrast between them and the shimmering golden fields in the backdrop, producing an even greater visual impact than that conferred by the exemplary strike alone. Faint and isolated marks are noted throughout, though it is surmisable that these are quite old, with the offering clearly having been very closely cared for since its likely inclusion in a series of collections these past 300+ years. Exceeded by no other examples across either NGC or PCGS, and presenting a captivating visual image that is likely unchallenged for the issue, this marvelous 2 Guineas deserves placement in only the finest of British numismatic cabinets.
