George II gold 2 Guineas 1738 MS63 NGC, KM576, S-3667B, Schneider-571 (same dies). Rarely surpassed quality for this young-head design type, featuring bold and complete detail over both sides and surfaces that glow as a result of alluring reddish-orange tone and buoyant mint bloom. Comparable to the last MS63 we sold in August of 2014 for $14,100, with fields that are only slightly less reflective (that example was given the Prooflike designation by NGC), but highpoints that are better executed, with no evidence of planchet adjustments running through George's bust. Presently, this specimen is tied for the second finest certified across both major grading services, with just a small cluster of 3 pieces ranking a point finer. Mislabeled on the holder as S-3667A.
