Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1713 S-M MS64+ NGC, Seville mint, KM260, Cal-173, Cay-9942. A classic milled rarity of Philip V's gold coinage, even more so when found in elite Mint State grades such as the present piece. Outranking the Millennia example by virtue of its 'plus' designation, presently the only so certified by NGC, a mild sea-salvaged appearance has produced a micro-granular finish to the surfaces, creating an inviting matte texture while just slightly muting the coin's luster. To date, only the second example of this date we have offered, and presently outranked by only a single specimen ranking MS65, it would seem that connoisseurs of the series will be hard-pressed to find a better representative.
